An excellent source for "how to" information as well a suppliers.
A good basic text for the beginners like me. Hardcover 161 pages.
Step-by-step instructions by Kozo Hiraoka.  Hiraoka  models in 3/4" scale without using castings.  The techniques can be scaled up to 1.5".  These texts give many tips and ideas that can be used on any live steam locomotive.  Hardcover 224 pages.

L S Manufacturing Cars,  trucks, stainless steel couplers and plumbing fittings. 
Live Steam Parts Company  This company is a distributor of OS Engines.  They lists pumps, injectors, lubricators and boiler insulation.  They are the only source I know of for superheater tubes. 
Loco Parts  Good looking accessories from water gauges to lubricators to safety valves.
Marco Rubber A good source for information on O-Rings and high temperature EPDM O-Rings.
Marty Burners  Shows how to fabricate propane burners.
Mason's Trains  Sells RTR 1.5" scale steam locomotives including a Shay
McMaster-Carr One of my favorites for hardware items.  Easy to use website. 
Micro Fasteners  Source for small screws, nuts, etc. Only place I could find hex head # 0 & #2 stainless steel screws.
Micro Mark  Source for modeler's tools.
Mountain Car Company  Manufacturer of locomotives, cars, trucks and other parts.
MSC Industrial Supply Source for inexpensive gauges, tools and hardware.
Narrow Gauge Shay  John Buckwalter provides drawings and castings for his 20 gauge gauge shay that operates on 7.5" gauged track.
Otto Gas Engine Works Source for piston rings
PM Research   They have some neat plumbing castings under Steam Engine Acc
